Who am I?

My name is Karen and I live in Surrey, UK, with my husband, three children and numerous pets. I am a part time teacher at our local junior school and a parent carer of my youngest child, Tristan, who is profoundly disabled.
In September 2009 a certain 8 week old apricot Cockapoo called Rufus joined our family and my love for all things Cockapoo related was ignited. Basil, our black and white parti Cockapoo became a member of our family in August 2011 and the boys are now inseparable.
In November 2011 I was privileged to become a Founder Member of The Cockapoo Club of GB, working alongside a team of Cockapoo owners and breeders to produce a really informative club and website which seeks to promote the health, well-being and ethical breeding of Cockapoos in this country.
I am enjoying the challenge of learning to groom the boys myself and taking on board the ongoing training in general obedience, tricks and agility.

Rufus
Rufus has always been a confident dog. He was very quick to learn as a pup and at just 6 months old he had progressed into an obedience class with 2 and 3 year old dogs. We have always called him our adrenalin junkie as he loves getting other dogs to chase him and thinks nothing of taunting a pack of German Shepherd dogs! He has always greeted other dogs and people with confidence and displaying the wiggliest bottom you could possibly imagine.
Rufus has shown a natural flare for agility and 2012 will be the year he and I will take a few faltering steps into the world of competing.
Whilst being very active and exciting on walks, he has settled into being a very relaxed dog at home. Early training has paid dividends and he will always 'ask' if he can join us on the sofa. He is, however, always the first to let us know that someone is at the door!

Basil
Basil definitely belongs in the world of comedy. He had been given the nickname 'Bumble' by his breeders, Jukee Doodles, and I can see why. He is far from being a clumsy dog; in fact he is extremely agile and can spring to an incredible height from a standing position. He just has a care free attitude and there is not much that phases him. He bumbles along in a happy go lucky way enjoying life and never feeling the need to challenge his position in the pack. He is bottom: Rufus is top. No argument!
Basil has also been quick to learn. He was an absolute star at puppy training classes almost to the point of being boring! I think I'm going to have a lot of fun with him especially with teaching him tricks. I just need more hours in the day!
